Georgia wildfire season over but danger isn't

Wildfire season has just ended again in Georgia but local authorities, lead by the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC), are warning state residents to head burning prohibitions and fire-prevention guidelines in order to prevent deadly forest fires or wildfires from blighting the state even outside of fire season.

Georgia’s Forestry Commission fights or controls around 8000 wildfires every year, that’s an average of 21 every day, but because the wildfire season in Georgia runs from February to May, that figure is probably closer to over 80 every day ... more
